Expo Tower by Mellow Mood Hotels has officially opened, offering a breathtaking panoramic view over Budapest.

Located next to Hungexpo, this newly opened four-star hotel is the latest addition to the Mellow Mood Hotels portfolio in Budapest. The building is home not only to stylish guest rooms, but also to the à la carte Exploré Restaurant and the panoramic Exploré Sky Bar, both welcoming not only hotel guests but external visitors as well.

The hotel – formerly known as Expo Congress Hotel – was completely renovated and now features 160 comfortable rooms in a calm, pastel-toned design, aligned with modern guest preferences. The same contemporary style extends to the refreshed common areas and state-of-the-art conference spaces.

The Expo Tower’s conference facilities, equipped with high-end audiovisual technology, can accommodate up to 300 guests, with flexible room layouts that can be easily opened or separated depending on the event. The renovation was carefully designed with corporate and bleisure travelers in mind, catering to their specific and evolving needs.

Expo Tower by Mellow Mood Hotels enjoys a truly exceptional location – Hungexpo’s main entrance is just a one-minute walk away. Many of our guests arrive for events hosted either at the exhibition center or in our own meeting rooms. This is a highly discerning, well-traveled clientele who stay in hotels frequently and bring elevated, but clearly defined expectations. With our renewed facilities and an excellent team, we believe Expo Tower will remain competitive and relevant for many years to come,” said owners Sameer Hamdan and Awad Zuhair at the opening.

The hotel is managed by Szabolcs Péli, who transferred to the project from within the Mellow Mood Hotels group. Previously, he led the Alta Moda Fashion Hotel and Estilo Fashion Hotel in downtown Budapest, and also served as Deputy Director of Sales at the corporate level.

Two new dining concepts under one roof

Following nearly a year of renovation, two new F&B venues have opened inside the building: the Exploré Restaurant, an à la carte dining experience available to the public on the ground floor, and the Exploré Sky Bar, located on the top floor and offering breathtaking panoramic views over Budapest.

“From the very beginning, our clear goal was to shape Exploré Restaurant and Exploré Sky Bar not simply as hotel outlets, but as independent culinary destinations that are open to all – including locals and professionals working in the area,” noted Viktor Varjú, Corporate Chef of Mellow Mood Hotels. “We recognized a real need in the wider neighborhood for high-quality, reliable restaurants – and we’re here to deliver just that.”

Both venues are also available for private or corporate event rental, and perfectly complement Mellow Mood Hotels’ evolving culinary portfolio, which includes top-rated destinations such as SIMALIBA Belvárosi Csárda (a TripAdvisor Top 5 restaurant in Budapest) and the iconic Baalbek Lebanese Restaurant.

Strategic development within the group

The group’s hospitality renewal strategy began in 2020, and Expo Tower by Mellow Mood Hotels is already the third fully renovated hotel, following the Impulso Fashion Hotel and Alta Moda Fashion Hotel. Renovation of the three-star Baross City Hotel is also expected to be completed in the first quarter of this year.

“As a key player in Budapest’s hospitality scene, we believe it’s essential to modernize and improve our services continuously, in order to build a long-lasting, future-proof portfolio that meets the changing expectations of guests visiting the Hungarian capital. The former Expo Congress Hotel was one of our most successful properties – and with Expo Tower, we are ready to reach even greater heights,” added Máté Veégh, General Manager of Mellow Mood Hotels.
